Then Jesus came
to them and said,

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations. Therefore...

go and make disciples

of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

– Matthew 28:18-20

Definition of Discipleship
  • Discipleship is learning to follow Jesus every day. It means growing in love for God, obeying His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to shape our lives, so we reflect Christ more fully.

It also includes walking with others, encouraging them in faith, and helping them grow as followers of Jesus. It is an intentional journey that happens through worship, scripture, prayer, community and everyday obedience.

  • As believers grow in faith, deepen their relationship with Jesus, and learn to live out God’s truth every day, it helps us move beyond Sunday worship into daily obedience, spiritual maturity, and meaningful church community.

Through discipleship, we are equipped to encourage one another, serve faithfully, and help others follow our Savior.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...”

    – Matthew 28:19

Scriptures on Discipleship
  • The bible teaches that discipleship means following Jesus with our whole lives. Jesus calls His followers to “deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him” (Luke 9:23), to remain in His Word, and to love one another as He has loved us.

Through discipleship, Jesus calls us to spread the Good News to others, so they can grow and teach others too.

"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”"– John 8:31-32

  • Being a disciple of Christ means following Jesus with a devoted heart, growing in faith through God’s Word, and living in obedience to His teaching to become more like Him.

Jesus' teaching teaches us to “put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,  and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”   – Ephesians 4:22-24

  • It is a lifelong spiritual transformation. As believers, it shapes our character in how we think, speak, love and live and allows the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ within us. We learn to trust God more fully and live with greater humility and obedience.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

    – John 13:34-35

  • It is grounded in Jesus’ greatest commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”   – Matthew 22:37–39

We believe discipleship is the whole-life process of growing in love for God and others through worship, scripture, prayer, fellowship, service and witness.
